THE TEN GUIDES TO
GOOD HUMAN RELATIONS
Listen can you hear it,
The wild nights sigh.
Can you hear the trees,
Speaking softly to the breeze.
Listen to the silence
and the vastness of the night
Watch the stars glistening so bright.
Can you hear my heart beating
like an ancient drum
Can you feel my fear as I wait for someone.
In the silence of the night
In the darkness before the dawn
As children sleep, I look and wonder
at the sky's vastness deep.
I listen to my lovers sigh
as he lies sleeping by my side
I listen to the restless breeze
Talking softly to the trees
I watch as dawn lights the sky
and the wind fades at break of day
I listen to the morning call
of birds singing to welcome the new day
A new morning dawns
Each are reborn
Yesterdays shadows slip away
At the promise of a bright new day.
Do not forget me when I go,
For go I must, I cannot stay;
But do not forget my faith, my love,
Nor my life, I pray.
Yet, if you should forget awhile
When I am gone - do not despair,
But keep your tears at bay,
For the silver love we shared
Will never fade away....
And one dawn soon,
Together we will stand
Upon some silent mountain, In some silent land,
And gaze into each others eyes once more;
Then, hand in hand
Along some distant shore,
We'll remember all the times that slipped our minds:
Our fond goodbyes; the times we loved;
The times we met;
My love, we'll not forget.
The more you give,
The more you get,
The more you laugh,
The less you fret,
The more you do unselfishly.
The more you live abundantly,
The more of everything you share,
The more you'll always have to spare,
The more you love, the more you'll find
That life is good and friends are kind.
For only what we give away
Enriches us from day to day.
Count your garden by the flowers,
Never by the leaves that fall;
Count your days by golden hours,
Don't remember clouds at all.
Count your nights by stars, not shadows,
Count your life with smiles, not tears,
And with the joy through all your journeys
Count your age by friends, not years.
O Great Spirit,
Whose voice I hear in the winds,
and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me!
I am small and weak, I need Your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty,
and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made,
and my ears sharp to hear Your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand the things
You have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy; myself.
Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset,
my spirit may come to You without shame.
The camel each day
Goes twice to his knees
He picks up his load
With the greatest of ease
He walks through the day
With his head held high
And stays for that day
Completely dry.
